It has been a great summer! We'll miss all the fun in the sun.
Kempton has been off and crawling this last month. It is a lot more work having to look for choking hazards everywhere and keeping an eye on where he is going when you set him down.
Lance got his braces off. Hooray! It is great to not feel like I am kissing a 16 year old anymore.

If you have a question about pioneers just ask Peyton. He was one of the lucky chosen for the "mini" royalty of the Days of '47 Children's Parade after successfully answering several questions about Pioneer history. He had so much fun riding in the parade and even got some airtime on the TV broadcast. Way to go Peyt!
Not only did Peyton get the participate in the Parade but he got to hang out with the lovely Days of '47 royalty. My sister Mallory is the one on the far right.
Kempton enjoyed the festivities from the sidelines.
After the parade we enjoyed the rest of the morning at the children's festival. Lexi was in heaven - she got her face painted like a princess, her fingernails done with pretty sparkles, and a crown to top it all off. She had a great time hanging out with her cousin Berkley. Peyton spent his time building a wooden helicopter at the Home Depot tent.
The day was a big success and a lot of fun for everyone!
Our friends Ashley & Dustin have a great b-day party every year for their twins. Peyton and Lexi look forward to this party every summer because there are such fun activities planned with ponies, pinatas, and lots of treats. This year this kids got to ride in a big England semi-truck.
Peyton must have taken about 20 rides. He has always loved trucks and when he was younger would say he wanted to be a truck driver. I hope he fulfilled his truck driver dream during his twenty rides because I hope his future career demands a college degree.
Kempton liked watching the big truck but the horn was not his favorite.
The moms had fun chatting while the kids and dads played.
Parties at Nana and Grandpa's house have been on a regular basis this summer. Aunt Mallory lead the kids in night yoga to get them to calm down before bed.
I had a great time catching up with long time friends in Logan while Lance was out of town for business. Summer time with old and new friends is wonderful!
The fourth of July in Logan is always a great time.
It was so fun to have Morris and Ashley here from Virginia. Ashley came prepared with 4th of July tattoos and games for the kids. We are so excited to have them move back in a year when Morris finishes his residency.
Kempton was happy as always through the weekend festivities and late nights.

We headed to the lake for a few days of fun in the sun. Uncle Jason was great to let Peyton drive the boat when no one was skiing or wake boarding.
Lance will never pass up a chance to play even when the water is choppy and a little cold.
Kempton is already five months old. It is so nice to wake up to his bright smile every morning. Yeah! I deserve a great sleeper after Lexi Lou who still struggles to sleep through the night.
Kempton has already figured out how to roll to get what he wants. He is very active and alert, it reminds me of his older brother.
It is so much fun to have another little boy!
We are currently minus two voices at our house. Last Thursday was the big surgery day for our family. Peyton and Lexi both needed their tonsils removed so we decided it would be the best to do them together.
The hospital had a great pre-surgery class that taught them what to expect and included a tour of the surgical unit.
They got to try everything out and practice on their own little surgery buddy.
The morning of the surgery was a lot harder for me than anyone. The kids were a little nervous and I was a lot nervous. After their exams Peyton gave Lexi one last hug for good luck before she went for her surgery. I walked with Lexi and the doctor back to the long hallway where you say good-bye. I tried to stay strong as Lexi quietly began to cry. Big tears started to run down her cheeks. Having worked as a nurse I had seen this scene unfold many a time but when you are the parent and have to stop at the red line it is like part of your heart is being torn from you. I gave her a big hug and told her everything would be o.k. as my own voice started to shake. Then I placed her hand in the doctors and watched them walk away as tears rolled down my own face.
After I composed myself I returned to Peyton and Lance where Peyton was playing video games while waiting for his turn. When the doctor came to get Peyton I was so relieved everything had gone well with Lexi but then I started the walk with Peyton. He was so calm and cool about it. He gave me a big hug and said, "I'll see you when I wake up". I am glad one of us could be rational about this.
When they let us back to the recovery room Lexi was just waking up and crying about her throat and IV hurting. She looked at me and said, "I thought this was supposed to be fun". I think all the talk about slurpees, the neat tour, and surgery class had been just a little misleading. Once they were back together and had their slushies they did great in recovery watching their own TVs mounted on the ceiling.
Their favorite part has been all the nice visitors who have brought yummy Slurpees and Popsicles they get to eat.
