Back to Football

Like father like sons. Kempton went to his first Utah football game. He was definitely more fascinated with the crowd and noise than the game. Peyton on the other hand couldn't wait for the season to start. I think Peyton has leapfrogged me on the priority seating chart.
Last week Peyton sat next to Senator Jake Garn at the pregame meal. The two of them talked about space and Sen. Garn going on the space shuttle most of the dinner. Peyton thought that was awesome!
Peyton has an unbelievable passion for Utah football. When the Utes lost to Oregon Peyton threw a huge fit. I couldn't believe how upset he was, I had to get out the video camera so I could show Lance when he got back from his trip. Peyton didn't calm down until he saw how bad the Cougars were getting spanked by Florida State. A true Ute!
Peyton started his first flag football league. He loves it! As soon as he gets home from school he is outside practicing with friends.
Lance is the fearless coach behind this team. Too bad it is more like herding chickens than designing a brilliant offensive scheme.
Lexi started soccer this fall for the first time. Her focus on the game comes and goes but she has been able to score a couple of goals between pirouettes and dance moves out on the field. Her favorite part is being on the team with her cousins and the post game treats.
Kempton is pulling himself up on whatever he can and trying to walk. It won't be long until he is out playing football with his friends.

Back to a Schedule

With the start of school and the official end of summer comes the family schedule: school, lessons, homework, and bedtime. In some ways it is nice to get reorganized and have certain things to plan on each day but I think I am definitely a summer mom. I love waking up getting to plan with the kids what they want to do that day. I love not having pressure to get the kids to bed but letting them play outside and enjoy the fun of summer.
Peyton was very excited to start first grade. Our neighborhood has a great tradition of a back to school breakfast on the first day of school. It is nice because Peyton was a little nervous but when he got to the breakfast and got to be with his friends before school he forgot all about being nervous.
It was great that Lance could be a part of Peyton's big day. Everything is better when Dad is there.
A couple of weeks later Lexi was more than ready to start Preschool. Having Peyton gone all day made the day very long for Lexi. So her first day was highly anticipated and very fun for her.
Now it is just Kempton and I for a few hours during the week. I guess there are some advantages to going back to school like a quick trip to the grocery store can actually be quick.
